This is my First Blog entry and to begin with I am starting with Nokia Ovi Apps Store :
Confused ..eh .. you would think that with Awesome Apple Apps Store, and recently successful Android Apps world, who needs an Ovi Store ???
Well, all Nokia phones run on Symbian OS (till now, a new tie-up with Microsoft and Nokia would launch Windows smart phones),the latest being Symbian 3, Devices based on Symbian accounted for 29.2% of worldwide smartphone market share in 2011 Q1. So, there is quite a good number of Users of Ovi Store plus you wont find much Articles or Blogs on OVI. So, when I bought a Nokia C6 (because of its exceptional Cam : 8 MP, built in LED Flash) I discovered several awesome Apps and I decided to write a Blog on it.
About Ovi Store :
Nokia launched Ovi Store in 2009, Although start was really slow, but in recent times there has been a substantial increase in the No. of Apps and the No. of Developers for Ovi Store (You can develop your own Ovi Store App : http://appwizard.ovi.com/web_nokia/signIn.jsp ). Here is a list of must-have awesome apps :
1. Ovi Maps : Ovi Store launched its own Maps application. It is a free App and can be downloaded on any Nokia Device. And the best part, it works Offline. Maps of various countries are available, so using the GPS this utility can be used anywhere to find-out a Drive or a Walk to your destination.
2. Dictionary: Dictionary is available in various languages and supports La
nguage conversion (Eng-Hin, Hin-Eng etc.) Works Offline.

You need first to set your own unlock pattern by connecting some of the nine white dots together. Trial Version works well, although Full Version can be purchased.
4. F-Secure Anti-Theft : With F-Secure Anti-Theft for Mobile you can be sure that your personal and confidential information won ’t be misused by anyone. If you suspect your phone is missing you can remotely lock it or wipe the data so that your private text messages or pictures don’t end up in the wrong hands. You can also locate your phone or the person holding it remotely.
It asks you to set-up a password and a Cell No. on which a text would be sent, whenever SIM is changed. As, the thief tries to change SIM, a text message is sent to that number, thus identifying the location and the Thief.
This utility is available for FREE. And the Security Package which includes Anti-Virus, System Manager, Apps Manager, Firewall can be purchased from OVI store.

6. Nimbuzz : is the popular Chat application, also available on OVI Store. You can chat with your buddies on FB, IM, Yahoo Chat, Gmail etc. It is also available for FREE essaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Nokia. This app is FREE too!! Opera Mobile Web Browser : needless to say anything, is the Mobile version of Opera Web Browser and gives a pretty decent Tab-ed browsing experience on your Phone, and also neatly designed.
8. NetQin Antivirus : Its a pretty decent anti-virus provides Fire-wall, as well as Anti-virus utility. It runs in the background and it asks everytime when you install a new app or when you Download a new file. It is available for FREE. Hoewever, to update the Virus Database you need to shell out few bucks.
9. AroundMe : AroundMe allows you to easily and quickly find important businesses and services in your surrounding or any other location with your Nokia phone. For example, you can find restaurants, banks, gas stations, and other local services with ease. View maps, directions, routes, street view, read reviews or call the business. Its a must-have Application, and has a decent database which helps a lot when you are looking for a nearby ATM or a McD. Available for FREE !!
10. MoodAgent : is a Music utility which creates playlists according to your Mood i.e Sensual, Tender, Happy, Angry or Tempo. Slide these bars to create a playlist from the songs available on your Device. Its a very nice utility and identifies most of your songs, however some songs might not be identified in any category. Works Offline. Available for FREE !!
11. Nokia Internet Radio : The Nokia Internet Radio enables you to discover and enjoy the radio shows transmitted over the Internet. Using Station Directory you can search for radio stations by genre, language or country/region. Available for FREE !!
12. FB Browser : is an awesome Facebook Browser, with user-friendly interface and amazing experience. Available for FREE !! With Zoom in utility, you can easily browse on Facebook, unlike other browsers where you have small buttons etc.
13. TuneWiki : is an excellent Music utility which allows you to play Music with Lyrics. It searches for the appropriate Lyrics and plays them in-sync with the Song. Can work Offline as well as Online. Once a Lyrics of a particular song have been downloaded, it can be played Offline. One thing to Note :The Song Title and Artist should be as of the original song. Available for FREE !!
14. TOI, AajTak : Get news on the go. Read Articles, watch Videos etc. on the TOI & AajTak Customised Apps. Requires Data Connection, Available for Free.
15. CNN Int'l : This is the best International News App I've encountered so far. It offers an ultimate Tabbed News Browsing and an amazing user Touch Interface.
16. Memory Status : It is a simple utility tool which gives you the Memory Status directly and in a much better Graphical way.
17. Panorama : Wide-angle high-resolution panoramic views are now possible on your own Nokia device (supports recent Phones). Panorama application produces high-quality smooth landscape panoramic images by automatically capturing and processing input images into a panorama, directly on your device.
18. Wordpress, Wikipedia : Apps. for writing and Viewing Blogs, and Searching and reading Wikipedia Articles.
19. Swype : Swype provides a faster and easier way to input text on any screen. With one continuous finger or stylus motion across the keyboard, Swype ’s patented technology enables users to input words faster and easier than other input methods! It predicts words according to the word typed so-far. Thus increasing the type-speed substantially. Drawback : Doesn't work well when you want to type in Hinglish.It is also available for FREE.
20. Spin the Bottle : want to play 'Truth & Dare' etc. , but dont have a bottle, Dont worry. This app does this for you. Simply touch and Rotate the Bottle. Available for FREE !!
You can install any of the apps on your Nokia Phone by searching it on Ovi Store on your phone.
